Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen burst out laughing during a hilarious exchange with Virat Kohli following the first ODI at the Vidharba Cricket Association in Nagpur. In a video surfaced on social media, the two were seen having a conversation at the dugout and Pietersen couldn’t control his laughter.

The first ODI against England on Thursday in Nagpur proved to be the first international game that Kohli has missed out on for the since 2022 due to injury-related reasons. According to media reports, the 36-year-old had suffered a knee injury while travelling to Nagpur, forcing the think tank to keep him out of the opening match.

“He will definitely be fit for the next game” – Shubman Gill on Virat Kohli

Batting star Shubman Gill, who slotted in at No.3 in Kohli’s absence, expressed optimism that the Delhi-born cricketer will be completely fit for the 2nd ODI. He told the broadcasters after the Men in Blue’s four-wicket victory in the opening game:

“When he woke up in the morning, he had some swelling in his knee. He was fine till yesterday’s practice session. There’s nothing to worry. He will definitely be fit for the next game.”

The home side chased down 249 with four wickets to spare as Gill (87), Axar (52) and Shreyas Iyer (59) hit half-centuries. Cuttack will host the second ODI on February 9, Sunday as England look to level the series.
