On May 2, a huge crowd of devotees gathered at Kedarnath Dham to see Baba Kedar. According to the data released by the travel control room Rudraprayag, a total of 30,154 devotees visited Kedarnath Dham till 7 pm on this day. These included 19,196 men, 10,597 females and 361 children. However, no foreign devotees were registered on this day. This number of devotees reflects the increasing faith in the pilgrimage. On May 2, devotees also arrived for Yamunotri and Gangotri darshan respectively.
Kedarnath echoed with the shouts of Shiva devotees
The doors of the famous Jyotirlinga Kedarnath temple located in the lap of the Himalayas were formally opened on Friday morning. More than 12,000 devotees were present in it. According to the officials of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, the doors of the temple, located at an altitude of 11,000 feet above sea level, were opened to the devotees on May 2 at 7 am. On this auspicious occasion, the temple was decorated with 108 quintals of flowers. It consisted of 54 types of flowers including roses and carnations. These flowers were brought from countries like Nepal, Thailand and Sri Lanka. Of the four temples of Char Dham Yatra, Kedarnath attracts the most devotees. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is 11th of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the country.
Grand Aarti at the confluence of Mandakini and Saraswati river
BKTC media in -charge Harish Gaur said that the process of opening the doors of Kedarnath temple started at five in the morning. During this period, Chief Priest Bhimashankar Linga, Pujari Bagesh Linga, Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, Rudraprayag District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar, BKTC CEO Vijay Prasad Thapliyal, Tirtha Purohit Srinivas Posti, other religious leaders and Vedpathi temple attended the worship of the sanctum sanctorum from the eastern gate of the temple. This time a new beginning has been made for the devotees. A grand Aarti will be organized at the confluence of Mandakini and Saraswati rivers near the temple, which will be on the lines of Ganga Aarti of Varanasi, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Let us tell you that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present on this occasion and after opening the kapat, he first worshiped and wished the happiness and prosperity of the people of the state and the country. Every year lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad arrive to visit Kedarnath Dham. The temple remains closed in winter.
