Washington: There were already clear indications that social media activities are being monitored strictly in the United States. Immigrants and especially foreign students are facing difficulties due to any direct or indirect action or post on social media, which are considered to be a threat to national security. The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has now made it official. The USCIS has clearly stated that anti -Jewish activity on social media and physical harassment of Jewish people would be considered the basis for American visa or immigration. It will have an immediate effect on individuals applying to get the status of legal permanent resident (green card), as well as foreign students and individuals associated with anti -Jewish activities. Visa applications of non-migrant work visa seekers for jobs related to international students, green card applicants, and educational institutions can be rejected if they are found to be related to anti-Jewish activities.

Preparation to end OPT Work Permit

The reason for this is that a bill has been introduced in the US Congress, which may eliminate alternative practical training (OPT) work permits. This will have the most impact on students reading ‘Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics’. In fact, foreign students including Indians are allowed to work for three years through OPT after completing their studies.

300 students’ visa canceled

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already confirmed that 300 foreign students’ visas have been canceled. The new visa applications are also being investigated on the basis of social media activity, so that students are not getting the opportunity to study in the United States. This announcement is surprised by immigration lawyers, who believe that many applicants can be rejected or canceled, as their online activities have been seen in the wrong context. He says that the way this policy has been announced is aggressive. This allows the government to suppress the people whose opinion it does not like.

3 lakh Indians may have to leave America

Indian students go to America to study because they get job options after completing the course here. But now, more than 3 lakh Indian students are getting less likely to get jobs in future.

E attempt to get H-1B work visa

If the current bill is passed, students from other countries including India may have to leave the US immediately after completing their curriculum. A bill introduced in the Congress has created confusion among the students studying on F-1 and M-1 visa. The needy students are now applying for jobs so that they can get H-1B work visa and prepare the way for them to live in the United States.
