Chikkamagaluru: A shocking incident took place in Karnataka’s Chikkamagaluru, where a man allegedly killed his mother-in-law, daughter, and sister-in-law. The man, identified as 40-year-old Ratnakar Gowda, also injured his brother-in-law and then ended his own life, reported News18.
The deceased have been identified as Gowda’s mother-in-law, Jyothi (50), his sister-in-law, 24-year-old Sindhu and his six-year-old daughter, Moulya. The man’s brother-in-law, 38-year-old Avinash was rushed to a hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment.
The incident took place in the Balehonnur area of the district. Gowda reportedly got into an argument with his mother-in-law at her home. According to the report, an argument broke out between the two over a dispute involving his estranged wife. Gowda then killed the three.
As per the police, Gowda and Swathi married eight years ago. However, they were reportedly living separately due to some differences. Swathi had reportedly moved to Mangaluru for work. The man worked as a bus driver at a local school.
When Gowda allegedly killed the three people, Swathi was not present at the spot. He reportedly took his own life using the same SBBL firearm.
As per the report, Gowda had also recorded a video on WhatsApp before taking the extreme step.
“My dear friends, family members, my sister, brother-in-law, I want to say that I have made my decision. My wife cheated on me and left me two years ago. She even abandoned her daughter, whom I have been taking care of. My life, my happiness, her love — everything is gone,” Gowda said in the video as reported by News18.
“My daughter’s classmates keep asking her where her mother is. She once took a photo from an album without my knowledge and showed her mother’s photo to her classmates. She feels very bad when asked repeatedly about her mother’s whereabouts,” he added.
Panic gripped the area after the incident.
A case has been registered at the Balehonnur police station.
