A sensational case of murder of Jain monk has come to light in Belgaum district of Karnataka. Muni Kamkumar Nandi Maharaj was missing since Wednesday. The devotees had filed a missing complaint on Thursday itself. This case is related to Chikkodi area of the district. On the basis of the complaint, the police investigated and interrogated the suspect. He confessed to killing the Jain monk and throwing the dead body. The accused told the police that one more person is involved in this case. After this the police arrested both of them.
Acharya Shri Kamkumar Nandi Maharaj lived in Nandiparvat Ashram located in Hirekodi village of Chikkodi taluk of Belagavi district for the last 15 years. Meanwhile, on Thursday, Bhimappa Ugare, president of the Acharya Kamakumaranandi Charitable Trust, filed a complaint with the police that the Jain monk has gone missing.
Chikkodi police registered the crime and started investigation. Two people were detained on suspicion. During investigation it was found that Jain monk Kamkumar Nandi Maharaj has been murdered. Now the police has started searching for the dead body of Jain monk Kamkumar Nandi Maharaj.
The accused are not giving clear information to the police that where did they kill Jain Muni and where did they throw his dead body? One thing is coming to the fore that the dead body of Jain monk was cut into pieces and thrown near Katkabavi village. At the same time, it is being told that the dead body has been wrapped in a cloth and thrown into the river. Based on this input, the police conducted a search operation in Katkabavi village till Friday midnight.
The search for the dead body of Jain monk Kamkumar Nandi is still going on. Police said that the accused have confessed to abducting the Jain monk from the ashram and killing him. At present, mourning has spread in the Nandi Parvat Ashram of Hirekodi village. As a precaution, heavy police deployment has been made in the village.
