Karnataka High Court has given BM, wife of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Parvati has been canceled. This summons was associated with the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
On Friday, the single judge bench of Justice M. Nagprasanna dismissed the summons issued against not only Parvati, but also against State Minister Bairathi Suresh. ED had called Suresh for questioning, although he was not an accused in the case.

ED’s summons was already stopped
Earlier, on 27 January, the High Court had laid a temporary stay on the ED summons. The restriction came when Parvati and Barathi Suresh filed a petition against the agency’s notice.
ED claimed that:
Parvati is the second accused in this scam.
He was allegedly benefited from the money received from the crime.
The ED has the right to investigate the matter freely.
However, the Lokayukta police and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) were already investigating the matter, so the ED investigation was described as “parallel investigation” and demanded to be dismissed.
What is Muda scam?
It is alleged that Parvati, wife of CM Siddaramaiah, was gifted a disputed land by his brother Swami.
This land was earlier government property, but later it was bought by Swami by dinotfais.
Muda illegally developed this land.
Parvati demanded compensation from Muda, instead of which she received 14 developed plots under the 50:50 scheme.
The price of these plots was more than the original three acres of land.
However, the Lokayukta police had already given a clean chit to CM Siddaramaiah, his wife and his family in this case.
Impact of High Court’s decision
This is a big relief for Siddaramaiah’s family and minister Bairathi Suresh.
Now ED will not be able to make further inquiries in this matter.
This decision can also debate on the jurisdiction of ED-can the agency issue summons to non-accused without solid basis?
