New Delhi, 07 July (Hindustan Times). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented the budget for the financial year 2023-24 in the assembly. This is the first budget of the Congress government after the resounding victory in the assembly elections held in May last. The total expenditure of this budget is estimated to be Rs 3,27,747 crore.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented the budget in the assembly on Friday. The total expenditure in the budget presented for the financial year 2023-24 is estimated to be Rs 3,27,747 crore, which includes revenue expenditure Rs 2,50,933 crore, capital expenditure Rs 54,374 crore and loan repayment Rs 22,441 crore.
In the budget presented for the financial year 2023-24, Rs 37,587 crore has been allocated for education, Rs 24,166 crore for women and child development. This is 11 per cent and 7 per cent respectively of the total budget allocation. Along with this, Rs 14,950 crore has been allocated in the budget for health and family welfare, which is 4% of the total allocation.
This is the seventh budget of Siddaramaiah as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Prior to this, he has presented the budget six times from 2013 to 2018 as the chief minister of Karnataka. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier announced that all the five guarantees of the Congress would be fulfilled in this financial year. About 50 thousand crore rupees will be spent every year to complete this.
