Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan on Wednesday lauded the contributions of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil in the field of education and social reform, stating that his vision and dedication continue to inspire generations. Speaking at the first convocation ceremony of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil University (KBPU), the Governor highlighted Patil’s efforts in providing education to socially and economically disadvantaged communities in rural areas. He noted that the Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, founded by Patil, remains a testament to his progressive leadership in education.
The convocation ceremony was held at Chhatrapati Shivaji College in the presence of Chancellor Chandrakant Dalvi, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Gnyandev Maske, Registrar Dr. Vijay Kumbhar, and other senior officials. Addressing the gathering, Radhakrishnan emphasised that education must be aligned with real-world skills and employment opportunities. He said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 focuses on equipping students with the knowledge required to compete in the global market.
He also reflected on the importance of social equality, stating that an individual’s worth should be determined by their achievements rather than caste or religion. He cited historical figures like Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as champions of unity and justice.
The governor also commended the university’s progress since its establishment in 2021. He praised the cleanliness and organisation of the campus and urged students to actively contribute to national initiatives such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission). He advised students to cultivate discipline, perseverance, and self-motivation, stressing that success comes through consistent effort rather than comparison with others.
During the event, outstanding students were conferred degrees by the Governor. A total of 679 students successfully passed their degree examinations. The ceremony was attended by district officials, faculty members, and students, marking a significant milestone in the university’s journey.
