A significant progress has come to light about the Kanpur-Karabai Green Highway Project. Approval has been approved to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for this Fourlane Highway Project. The highway will be about 112 km long and will be developed from Kanpur to Kabrai. The responsibility of preparing the DPR of the project has been entrusted to the Essen Infra Company of Hyderabad. The estimated budget of construction work is estimated at around Rs 3,700 crore.
On completion of this project, not only will the traffic pressure on Kanpur-Sagar Road be reduced, but it will also boost development and tourism in the Bundelkhand region.
Project gets approval, preparation intensifies
According to the report of Dainik Jagran, this Green Highway project had already received an alignment approval from the National Planning Group (NPG). After this, the proposal was sent to the Committee of the Union Road Transport Ministry, from where approval has been received to make DPR.
Following the instructions of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, the preparations for the project have accelerated and work has started on the outline of its construction.
Which districts will pass through the highway
This highway will be built on the lines of Bundelkhand Expressway and will pass through the boundaries of 96 villages of Kanpur Nagar, Fatehpur, Mahoba and Hamirpur districts. From this project:
- Traffic pressure on Kanpur-Sagar Road will be reduced
- Road accidents are expected to decrease
- This highway will enter the border of Madhya Pradesh via Mahoba district, and will later provide connectivity to Mumbai via Bhopal.
Project starts: Decision was made in 2021
The central government had decided to construct the Green Highway in the year 2021 to Kabrai of Mahoba parallel to the Kanpur-Sagar National Highway. Since then, there has been a continuous demand at the regional level regarding this project.
Recently, the proposal related to the alignment of this green highway was sent to the ministry for approval. After getting a no objection certificate from the NPG, the Committee of the Union Road Transport Ministry on Thursday gave a formal approval to prepare the DPR.
