Kanpur Ganga Bridges: Construction of new Ganga bridges between Kanpur-Unnao, travel will be easy

Construction of two new bridges on the Ganges river between Kanpur and Unnao districts of Uttar Pradesh is proposed, which will provide great relief to the people of the area. This project is being started with the aim of removing traffic problems and reducing travel time.

Bridge characteristics

  • Length: 4.50 km (approx)
  • Width: Each bridge 8.50 meters wide (two-lane)
  • Pavement: 1.50 m pavement on the sides of the bridge
  • Cost: About 799 crores
  • Connectivity: Will connect VIP Road to Mandhana-Shuklaganj route

Proposed route of bridge

The bridge will start from Transganga City, which will be divided into two parts and end at one Sir Rani Ghat and the other at Dhobi Ghat. This project will make the journey between Unnao and Kanpur easier. Vehicles going from Kanpur to Unnao will use Rani Ghat, while vehicles coming from Unnao will land at Dhobi Ghat.

Current status of project

Lucknow unit of Setu Nigam has submitted the DPR (detail project report) of the bridge to the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDC). A letter has been written to the government to allot 13-13 meters of land at Rani Ghat and Dhobi Ghat for the Carriage Way of the proposed bridge. Construction will begin immediately after the approval of the DPR.

Amendment of pre -plan

A plan to construct a four-lane bridge at Sarsaiya Ghat was prepared about nine years ago, but due to technical flaws it was revised and two-lane bridges were proposed.

Increase in economic investment

Due to the construction of these bridges, the possibility of increasing investment in the area is also being raised, which will strengthen the local economy.
