Bollywood actress and Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kangana Ranaut lashed out at filmmaker Hansal Mehta for claiming he has no clarity on demolition of her Mumbai office by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), back in 2020.

On Tuesday (March 25), a user asked Mehta why he didn’t speak in support of Kangana when her property was demolished by authorities. This comes after the director voiced his support for comedian Kunal Kamra amid controversy over his ‘traitor’ joke on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The venue in Khar Road, where Kunal performed the act was vandalised by Shinde supporters.

The user pointed out that Mehta reacted to a post on Kunal’s controversy and also defended the comedian but he failed to support Kangana when her house was being demolished.

Reacting to the user’s post, Mehta wrote, “Was her house vandalised. Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don’t know the facts.”

However, this did not go down well with Kangana who lashed out at him and also called him a filmmaker who makes ‘third class’ shows and ‘atrocious’ films.

Reacting to his post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Kangana wrote, “They called me names like haramkhor, threatened me, served a notice late in the night to my watchman and next morning before courts could open bulldozers demolished the entire house. High court called the demolition completely illegal.”

She added, “They laughed at it and raised a toast to my pain and public humiliation. It seems your insecurity and mediocrity has not only made you bitter and stupid but it had blinded you as well, it’s not some third class series or atrocious films that you make, don’t try to sell your dumb lies and agendas here in the matters related to my ordeals, stay out of it (sic).”

It may be mentioned that Kangana and Mehta had worked together in the 2017 film Simran. In fact, the filmmaker often shared appreciation posts for the actress on social media.

In 2020, Kangana’s Mumbai office was demolished by the BMC following her spat with the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government.

Kunal Kamra’s latest controversy

Kunal recently sparked outrage after mocking Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde during a stand-up comedy show. During his performance, Kunal referred to Shinde as a ‘Gaddar (Traitor)’ while using the Dil To Pagal Hai song Bholi Si Surat.

Following the circulation of the video, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) workers ransacked the office of Habitat at The Unicontinental Mumbai in Khar West as a show of protest.

The Shiv Sena has strongly condemned Kunal’s remarks, demanding his arrest and an apology. However, in his official statement, the comedian refused to apologise. He also stated that he will cooperate with the police and authorities.
