Kameshwar Chaupal, a trustee of Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust and former member of Bihar Legislative Council, has passed away. He was undergoing treatment at Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi and he breathed his last here. He was ill for the last several days. He has a special association with the Ram temple being built in Ayodhya.

Kameshwar Chaupal laid the first brick for the construction of Ram temple. It was Kameshwar who kept the first brick of Ram temple at the foundation stone ceremony during the 1989 Ram temple movement. The RSS had earlier given him the status of Karsevak. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) gave him the status of first car servant.
After completing his studies, he completely dedicated himself to the Sangh.

Kameshwar Chaupal became more famous when the foundation stone of the Ram temple was laid in 1989. After this, he became so famous that he was made a member of the Bihar Legislative Council twice. He was associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party and was from the Dalit community. He also contested against Ram Vilas Paswan in 1991.
Kameshwar Chaupal’s political life was important. He was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2002 to 2014. After joining the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in 1982, he was appointed as the state in -charge along with the headquarters at Gaya in 1989. His contribution and dedication to the construction of Ram temple will be memorable for Indian politics and society.

In 1991, he left the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP also gave him a Lok Sabha ticket but had to face defeat in the election. He also lost in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. However, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha twice.
