Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishnan are currently awaiting the release of their upcoming film Thug Life, which is slated to hit theatres on June 5, 2025. During one of the promotional events, Kamal made a joke involving a ‘banana’ directed at Trisha, which did not sit well with netizens — some called it ‘inappropriate’ and ‘disgusting’.
It all started when the actress was talking about her favourite dish, mentioning that she likes a preparation made with boiled banana. However, she was struggling to recall the name of the dish. Kamal Haasan then intervened and suggested that she was referring to pazham pori, a type of banana fritter.
Further, he joked, “She doesn’t know the name but likes putting it in her mouth.” The actress laughed at the remark, and a few seconds later, Kamal patted her knee during the light-hearted moment.

Netizens were left cringing at Kamal Haasan’s remark towards the actress. Soon after the video went viral on X, several users slammed the veteran actor for his ‘distasteful’ comment.
A user commented, “Crowds are cheering & trisha laughs awkwardly. Comment itself disgusting yet some fans here defending this.” Another said, “Imagine the outrage if any Telugu senior hero passed the same comment. Disgusting!!”
One X user commented, “Eww eww eww.”
However, some fans defended Kamal Haasan, arguing that the comment was taken out of context. One user said, “Kamal. Said she likes eating but doesn’t know d name.. Nothing wrong..” While another said, “There was nothing outrageous said here.
“This is a very jovial dialogue usually used in most Tamil Houses by moms & Dads. Nothing disgusting in this,” wrote another on X.
Kamal Haasan and Trisha Krishnan are yet to react to the outrage.
