Before fasting on Ekadashi, one should remember Lord Vishnu after meals and pray to God with a resolve to fast on the second day of Ekadashi. On this day, Lord Vishnu should be offered flowers, fruits, milk, panchamrit, sesame etc. After worshiping God, one should chant the name of God throughout the day and awaken at night. This fast is broken on the second day of Ekadashi.
While fasting on Kamada Ekadashi, a person should eat only once a day, which should include food made of milk, fruits, vegetables and dry fruits. On this day only sattvic and vegetarian food should be taken. Apart from this, rice, moong dal, wheat and barley should not be eaten. Food should be taken before sunset, but the next day of Ekadashi, the Brahmin should take food only after giving food and Dakshina.

1. If you are facing financial troubles, then you should chant the seed mantra of Lord Vishnu on Kamada Ekadashi and that mantra is- ‘Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya Namah’.
2. If you are facing problems in your career, then offer 11 yellow flowers to Lord Vishnu on Ekadashi. It is also beneficial to recite Vishnu Chalisa on this day.
