The Kalyan Taluka Police arrested three individuals from Gujarat for allegedly killing a co-worker over a petty issue in Kalyan two weeks ago. The police said that they fled the scene before committing the murder.
About The Case
The deceased has been identified as Sagar Gothade, a 35-year-old resident of Nashik and a laborer working at the Samruddhi Mahamarg construction site in Kalyan Taluka. The police have identified the suspects as Vishal Mali,24, Badrinath Patil,43, and Ganesh Suryawanshi, all residents of Malegaon.
According to the police, all four men worked at the construction site and lived together in a rented accommodation in Chinchavli village, Kalyan Taluka. Investigators suspect that the confrontation arose under the influence of alcohol on March 2. During the altercation, the three accused allegedly attacked Sagar with sharp weapons, striking his head multiple times. As a result, Sagar collapsed and was found lying in a pool of blood, unconscious. Fearing the consequences, the trio fled the scene without informing anyone. The landlord of the rented room later alerted the police.
The police formed two teams and began an investigation. During the investigation, they learned that they did not use mobile phones and did not contact the family members, which made it difficult to trace them. A team was dispatched to Nashik, Dindori, and adjacent cities to review CCTV footage. With the help of technical intelligence and local informers, they discovered that three of them were in Dharampur, located in Gujarat, and arrested them on March 13. They brought them to Kalyan, produced them in court, and remanded them into police custody for further investigation into this matter.
Suresh Kadam, the police inspector of Kalyan Taluka police station, said, “Based on technical intelligence, we received a clue from Gujarat. We dispatched a team to Gujarat and inquired about where they were working at a construction site. We arrested them.”
