Thane: The Kalyan Government Railway Police arrested five individuals for allegedly killing a 48-year-old man by attacking him with a wooden stick, fists, and blows at Digha railway station in Thane.

The incident took place at Digha railway station on April 18 at 2:30 AM. The accused have been identified as Guddu Pal, 40, and four others, including a juvenile. The deceased has been identified as Arjun Sharma, 48. The police said that a partnership was formed between the accused Pal and the deceased fifteen days ago.

They are not contractors, while the contractor assigned them to managerial work for the parking outside the Digha station. The accused, Pal, along with seven to eight accomplices, arrived at the parking lot and started a heated argument among themselves over the money collected from the parking business.

Following this, the conflict escalated into a fight. In a fit of rage, the accused allegedly beat him brutally with fists, bows, and a wooden stick. Subsequently, they fled the scene after committing the offense.

The locals alerted the police and took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The police said that Sharma suffered serious injuries to his body. He succumbed to his injuries. An FIR has been filed against them on the charge of murder.

Archana Dusane, senior police inspector from Thane GRP, said, “We formed a team and apprehended the five accused, including a juvenile. Four accused were produced in court, where they were sent to police custody, while the juvenile was detained on Monday and will present in the Juvenile Justice Board in Bhiwandi.”
