Thane: The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a special drive to bulldoze illegal plinths of 167 illegal constructions in the Baneli area of Titwala on Tuesday. The KDMC officials stated that the builders used to build chawls and rooms without obtaining appropriate permission from the KDMC and later sold them to customers.
According to the KDMC official, action was taken under the supervision of chief of KDMC Abhinav Goel. A team was led by assistant municipal commissioner Atul Patil and an official from the Encroachment Department of KDMC. This action was taken amid heavy security and faced opposition from locals in the Baneli area of Titwala, which falls under the jurisdiction of the KDMC.
The civic officer said, “We took action against unauthorized plinths and three rooms amid heavy police security. The action continued despite the locals’ protests about it. We have demolished a total of 167 constructions where plinth work was done to build illegal rooms. Moreover, three illegal rooms that were constructed were also demolished.”
KDMC demolished hundreds of illegal rooms before they could be built illegally or rooms which were constructed without permission.
