Thane: The education department of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation has declared eight schools as ‘illegal’ for the academic year 2024-25 and appeals to citizens not to take their children’s admission into these schools, as they have been declared illegal. Moreover, of these eight schools, seven are located in the Ambivli area of Kalyan, while one is situated in Dombivli.

On account of admissions in the upcoming months, the KDMC started inspecting the schools and reviewing their permissions from the concerned education department. Upon verification of the same, a total of eight schools were found to be operating here without appropriate permission. Following this revelation, they declared the schools illegal, said an officials.

The education department of KDMC appeals to parents of the twin city and adjoining cities not to take admission for their children into these schools. The KDMC officials said they would take stringent action against them after imposing legal consequences. They will make provisions for those students who have been studying in these schools to be shifted to another school for their future well-being.

Sanjay Jadhav, Deputy Municipal Commissioner from the Education Department of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, said, “We have inspected all schools across the KDMC region. We found that a total of eight schools were found to be functioning illegally without appropriate permission. Children from these eight schools will accommodate in nearby schools to ensure that there is no academic loss to them. We have been given time until June to obtain the required permission from the state government, else face closure.”

The list of unauthorized primary schools is as follows.

1) L.B.S. English School, Balyani Titwala – English Medium.

2) Sunrise School, Balyani Titwala – English Medium.

3) Sankalp English School, Balyani Titwala – English Medium.

4) Purna Pragya English School, Balyani Titwala – English Medium.

5) Polaris Convent School, Balyani Titwala – English Medium.

6) D.B.S. English School, Ambivali (West) – English Medium.

7) Oxford English School, Ambivali (West) – English Medium.

8) Buddhist International School, Maharashtra Nagar, Dombivli (West) – English Medium
