The Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation (KDMC) started taking action against property tax defaulters by sealing their properties across Dombivali. The officials of KDMC sealed 76 properties for not paying property tax despite repeated reminder letters.
The property tax defaulters have total arrears of ₹ 74,31,543, informed KDMC Public Relations Officer Madhavi Phophale. According to KDMC officials, out of 76 properties, 22 property holders, totaling an amount of ₹18,76,157, have paid to the KDMC. The rest of the property holders, with a total amount of ₹55,55,386, are pending.
KDMC officials said that they issued notices to the property holder in Dombivli, located in Lodha and Palava, but did not heed the request to pay the taxes. KDMC Commissioner Indu Rani Jakhar directed the tax department to take action against tax defaulters for non-payment of taxes. Subsequently, action was initiated under the instruction of Deputy Municipal Commissioner Swati Deshpande.
KDMC officials said that they announced the Abhay Yojana 2024-2025 to give 100 percent tax benefits for citizens who pay taxes until March 15.
