The Kalwa police arrested two habitual offenders for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in the locality. Four motorcycles worth ₹2,65,000 were recovered from their possession.

The arrested accused have been identified as Shekhar Das, 18, a resident of Bhaskar Nagar in Kalwa, and Randeep Arote, 19, a resident of Laxmi Nagar in Kalwa. On January 1, a motorcycle theft case was registered against unknown individuals by Nitin Vishwakarma at the Kalwa Police Station. Following the incident, the Thane police launched a special drive to curb thefts and related activities across the area.

According to the police, information was gathered through informants, and with the help of CCTV footage and technical intelligence, a trap was laid in Kalwa. The accused, Das and Arote, were traced and arrested on Sunday.

The investigating officer stated that during interrogation, the accused confessed to previous criminal activities. It was revealed that four cases of motorcycle theft had already been registered against them at the Kalwa and Rabodi police stations. Four stolen motorcycles worth ₹2,65,000 were recovered from their possession. Both accused were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody for further investigation.
