Kolkata: After CBI failed to submit interim chargesheet against former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh and former Tala police station OC Abhijit Mondal for rape and murder incident at RG Kar on junior medics and after Sealdah court granted both of them bail, both senior and junior doctors on Saturday had hit the streets demanding answer from the central agency.
The West Bengal Junior Doctors Front had agitated in front of CBI headquarters in Kolkata at CGO complex.
An eight-member delegation went inside the CGO complex and spoke with the CBI officials.
Talking to the media, a junior doctor Debashish Haldar said that the CBI officials had told them that ‘bail doesn’t mean acquittal’.
“It is very clear that we will have to return to the protests or else justice will be denied. We are failing to understand why the CBI couldn’t submit the chargesheet against Ghosh and Mondal even after 90 days. Now we will again continue with our protests in a bigger way,” said Debashish Haldar.
Notably, even if bail is granted to Ghosh on rape and murder incident but Ghosh is still in jail as allegations of ‘money laundering’ is also there against the former RG Kar Medical College and Hospital principal.
Parents of the victim who also took part in the protests urged everyone to return to the protests demanding ‘justice’ for their daughter.
“We have to keep faith in someone so we are still keeping faith in CBI. The central agency had said that soon they will file the supplementary chargesheet. Let’s see what happens,” said the victim’s mother.
“The road will only show us the way. Yesterday after the court’s verdict we were crestfallen but we have decided not to break down but to fight till we get justice. We will have to protest so that we get justice,” said the victim’s father.
Incidentally, scuffle broke out at Dorina crossing in the Esplanade area after the protest rally called by ‘Abhaya Manch’ got into a scuffle with the police.
One of the protestors who started ‘Reclaim the night’ Rimjhim Sinha said, “We were depressed and anxious for which we had reclaimed the night. None should think we have calmed down. If needed more protests will be organized. We cannot sit idle till justice is met.”
Political analyst Biswanath Chakraborty also questioned the ‘credibility’ of the CBI.
“From Saradha ponzi scam to Rose Valley scam CBI is yet to wind up the cases. What happened now in RG Kar rape and murder incident?” questioned Chakraborty.
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh slammed those who thought that CBI would investigate ‘better’ than state police.
