Junior doctors held protest outside Sealdah Court on Monday demanding more strict punishment for the convict in RG Kar rape and murder case.
According to reports, the West Bengal Junior Doctors Front, Joint Platform of Doctors, and Abhaya March protesters demonstrated outside Sealdah Court.
The protestors said that while convict Sanjay is receiving punishment, the main accused in the incident should also be brought under the law.
Speaking to news agency IANS, one of the protestors said, “Sanjay Roy is not the only one at fault. All the people involved need to come forward. As long as they don’t, we will not leave Rajpath…”
“We welcome the verdict of the Court, whatever judgment comes, but the main issue is that, time and again, people have raised questions that one person alone cannot commit such a heinous crime. The Central Forensic Report Laboratory has indicated the possibility of involvement by multiple persons. There have been questions raised regarding the crime scene as well. Therefore, people are demanding that all those involved in this case should be brought under investigation. The judicial system should take appropriate measures to ensure that everyone involved in this heinous crime receives justice,” said another protestor.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her dissatisfaction with the verdict, stating, “If we had been in charge of the case, we would have ordered a death sentence long ago, but it was taken away from us.”
“We want justice. Such criminals should be hanged. I am not satisfied with the court’s order,” she added.
