New Delhi, 18 November (HS). Delhi’s Patiala House Court has extended the judicial custody of those accused in the Parliament security lapse till November 30. Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur gave this order.

During the hearing, the investigating officer of this case said that the forensic report of the can and digital devices thrown in the Parliament has been received. Today, partial arguments were presented from both the sides on the bail plea of ​​Mahesh Kumawat, accused in this case. The next hearing on the bail plea of ​​Mahesh Kumawat will be held tomorrow i.e. on 19th November.

The court will hear the framing of charges against the accused on November 11. On September 11, the court had rejected the bail plea of ​​Neelam Azad, the accused in this case. Delhi Police has said in its charge sheet that the accused wanted to defame democracy by targeting the Parliament House. It has been said in the charge sheet that the accused were planning to attack the Parliament for two years. In the chargesheet of about one thousand pages, Delhi Police has said that the accused met each other on social media. The accused had held a total of five meetings in Mysore, Gurugram and Delhi. Their first meeting took place in Mysore in February 2022. The court had taken cognizance of this charge sheet of Delhi Police on August 3.

Delhi Police had filed a supplementary charge sheet in this case on July 15. Delhi Police had filed a charge sheet against the accused under sections 186, 353, 153, 452, 201, 34, 120B of the Indian Penal Code and sections 13, 16, 18 of the UAPA. Delhi Police had filed the first charge sheet on June 7. The accused against whom Delhi Police has filed a charge sheet under sections of UAPA include Manoranjan D, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde, Mahesh Kumawat, Sagar Sharma and Neelam Azad. The first charge sheet filed by Delhi Police is of about one thousand pages.

Let us tell you that on December 13, 2023, two accused jumped into the chamber from the visitor gallery of Parliament. Within a short time, one of the accused, while walking over the desk, took out something from his shoes and suddenly yellow smoke started coming out. There was chaos in the house after this incident. Amidst the commotion and smoke, some MPs caught these youth and also beat them. After some time, Parliament security personnel captured both the youths. Two people were also caught outside the Parliament who were shouting slogans and emitting yellow smoke.

On December 21, 2023, the Patiala House Court had directed the Special Cell of Delhi Police to provide a copy of the FIR to the family members of the accused Neelam within 24 hours. Delhi Police has challenged this order of Patiala House Court in the High Court. On December 22, 2023, the High Court had stayed the order of the Patiala House Court.
