The latest episode of WWE Smack Down took place at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. With the pay-per-view of Money in The Bank on the horizon, there were a couple of qualification matches and there was also fallout from WWE Backlash. Additionally, Undisputed champion John Cena’s Saturday night’s main event was also announced.
The event began with the segment between Solo Sikoa and WWE United States Champion Jacob Fatu, with Jeff Cobb also making his way. With Cobb helping Fatu retain the United States Championship last week in a fatal four-way bout, also involving LA Knight, the latter took him out and ran through the crowd.
The first match of the night was the women’s MITB qualifying match, a triple threat contest between Alexa Bliss, Chelsea Green and Michin. Bliss won the bout after planting Green with the Sister Abigail DDT, thereby covering her for the three count. The following bout was between Fraxiom (Nathan Frazier and Axiom) and DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa). Fraxiom emerged victorious after rolling up Gargano. Although, Fraxiom were attacked after their win, Motorcity Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) ran down to make the save.
It also emerged that John Cena will compete in a non-title match at the Saturday night main event against R-Truth.
Meanwhile, Solo Sikoa won the Men’s MITB qualifying match against Jimmy Uso and Rey Fenix by hitting the Samoan Spike on Fenix. Later, Jeff Cobbs wrestled in his first match in WWE, defeating LA Knight.
