JNU professor suspended: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration has suspended a senior faculty member for allegations of sexual harassment by a female employee of the Japanese Embassy. The university has taken this decision after a long investigation.

Many complaints were received.

According to information received from JNU sources, the alleged incident took place a few months ago during a university program. University officials have confirmed that this is not an alone incident, as there have been many complaints against the professor before.

 

Decision taken after long investigation

University Vice Chancellor Pantishree Dhulipadi Pandit said, “This administration is committed to the policy of zero tolerance towards sexual harassers, corruption and corrupt employees.” This action reflects the vigor of the university on the safety and accountability of the complex. The university’s academic council has taken this decision after a long investigation. Which is the highest statutory body of the university. Investigation found that the victim working at the Japanese Embassy was allegedly sexually assaulted by a faculty member during a university program. She then went to Japan and filed a formal complaint in the case. The matter was brought to the attention of the Indian Embassy by diplomats. After this it was sent to the Ministry of External Affairs and the University.

The investigation confirmed the allegations.

After investigating the case, the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) found the allegations to be correct. The Executive Council then recommended dismissal without any profit. However. The accused has the right to appeal before the university’s appeal committee and go to court.

 

Another faculty member was also fired.

Meanwhile, another faculty member of the Department of Environmental Sciences was dismissed after allegations of corruption in a research project. Now the case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Two non-teaching staff members have also been dismissed after the facts of the fact-khoj committee on the research project.
