Many tourist places in Jammu and Kashmir have been closed after the Pahalgam terror attack. According to the information, the Jammu and Kashmir government has taken this decision on the recommendation of security agencies. In Kashmir, 48 out of 87 tourist destinations have been closed due to intelligence warnings about the possibility of terrorist attacks. According to sources, some sleeper cells have become active in the valley after the Pahalgam attack and they have been instructed to start activities.
After the Pahalgam attack, TRT was constantly getting intelligence warnings about some targeted murders, along with efforts to carry out a major attack in retaliation to blow up the houses of terrorists active in the valley. Security forces have deployed anti -suicidal squads from the special operation group of police at several sensitive tourist destinations including Gulmarg, Sonamarg and Lake areas. Security has also been increased in general after the terrorist incident in the valley.
This attack can affect all areas of Kashmir. Especially can have a greater impact on tourism. The trust of investors wishing to open hotels, companies and trading fruits there may shake the trust. This can disrupt Kashmir’s economic progress, which has stabilized after years of hard work. Not only this, the income of the people of Kashmir can also have a bad effect.
The economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir remains strong. Its actual GSDP is estimated to increase at a rate of 7.06 percent for 2024-25, while nominal GSDP is estimated to be Rs 2.65 lakh crore, indicating continuous growth. Between 2019 and 2025, the Union Territory recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.89 per cent, while per capita income is expected to increase from 10.6 per cent to Rs 1,54,703 crore in FY25, a year-after-year.
This remarkable progress is not without reason, but the number of terrorist incidents has come down from 228 to 46 in 2018, which is a 99 percent decline. Till now, the benefits of peace attracted investment and tourism in Kashmir.
