IITTM sealed, Jiwaji University owes ₹13 crore
Additionally, the corporation took action against the Indian Institute of Travel and Tourism Management (IITTM), the country’s premier tourism institute. Due to unpaid dues of ₹2.09 crore, the IITTM auditorium has been sealed, as reported on Monday.
The corporation has been running a vigorous revenue recovery campaign, and this action against Jiwaji University is said to be its largest step so far.
According to the officials, the Atal Auditorium lacks both construction approval and a mandatory fire safety No Objection Certificate (NOC). They revealed that the university owes ₹13.52 crore in service charges to the municipal body.

Atal Auditorium posed major safety concerns
Built four years ago within the Jiwaji University campus, the Atal Auditorium hosts various political and cultural events. Concerns have been raised about safety, especially since the auditorium lacks proper fire safety certification, posing risks to VIPs, students, and the general public attending events.
The university’s management is under scrutiny for this oversight, particularly given the significant student and staff presence on campus.
The situation has sparked questions about how such a large structure could be built and used for years without approvals or safety clearances.
