BSNL 5G test starts: India’s government telecom company BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has started testing the 5G network infrastructure. 5G tower sites have been started in many other cities including Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Kolkata, Patna, Hyderabad, Chennai. According to the Business Standard report, these are mostly 4G sites, which are part of the current deployment of 1 lakh 4G towers. BSNL officials said that these sites will later be upgraded to 5G.

BSNL’s 5G services will start soon
According to the report, BSNL is planning to formally start 5G services in the next three months. During this time network testing is being done in areas where BSNL’s grip is strong. BSNL officials said that new base transcendent stations (BTS) are also being set up in cities like Kanpur, Pune, Vijayawada, Coimbatore and Kollam.

According to the telecomtock report on 7 March 2025, one lakh 4G towers of BSNL will be completely operational by June 2025. These towers are made with indigenous technology and will later be upgraded to 5G. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also confirmed this. Thus, 4G of BSNL and then 5G launch is now a few months away.

BSNL declared April as ‘Customer Service Month’
BSNL announced on its official Twitter account that April 2025 would be celebrated as “Customer Service Month”. This initiative has been initiated to improve customer experience and solve their problems quickly. In a video shared on X on 31 March 2025, BSNL said that there is going to be very good news. In this customer service month, we will make your experience even better. Wait for some special announcements… ‘

Customer focus on improving experience
BSNL’s effort is to improve its services for urban and rural areas as well as enterprises and retail customers. Under this initiative:

• Mobile network quality will be improved.
• Fiber broadband (FTTH) and leased circuit/MPLS will be increased.
• The billing system will be made more transparent.
• Customers’ complaints will be resolved quickly.

BSNL said that under this initiative all circles, commercial areas and units will participate in this campaign and make it successful.

Focusing on indigenous 4G and 5G,
BSNL announced in April that it would use several means including website, social media, customer platform and direct access to get feedback from its customers. This reaction reviewed BSNL Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Robert J.K. Ravi will do it.

Ravi said, ‘BSNL’s visit is associated with the voice of every customer. We are the only telecom provider to launch indigenous 4G in India. We are moving forward with service, speed and power to meet the digital goals of ‘developed India’. This initiative of BSNL is a major step towards making India digitally strong. It is expected that in the next few months, 4G and 5G services of BSNL will be available across the country.
