Jharkhand: At least seven people were killed and several others injured when a Patna-bound bus overturned in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district. A senior officer in the case said that the accident took place near Gorhar police station area, about 50 kilometers from the district headquarters, when the bus overturned on a sharp turn.
Seven killed, 10 more seriously injured
Hazaribagh SP Arvind Kumar Singh said seven people died while some were seriously injured. Another official said there were around 50 passengers on board the bus, which was traveling from Kolkata to Patna, at the time of the accident. The condition of 10 people injured in the accident is critical. He has been admitted to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi. Most of the passengers in the bus were sleeping at the time of the accident. Of those killed, only three have been identified so far. Four other bodies have been kept at Hazaribagh’s Seth Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH) for identification.
All the passengers were sleeping at the time of the accident.
In this case, a passenger Motichand Prasad told that his wife Rajkumari Prasad died in this accident. Prasad, a resident of Gopalganj, Bihar, said that we were sleeping when the accident happened in the morning. We boarded a bus from Kolkata to Bihar on Wednesday. Ganesh Kumar, another tourist from Bihar Sharif, said that the incident happened around 6 o’clock in the morning.
The injured are being treated at RIMS and SBMCH in Ranchi.
Barhi sub-divisional police officer (SPDO) Ajit Kumar said only three bodies have been identified so far. Three seriously injured people were referred to RIMS, Ranchi, while others are being treated at SBMCH.
