Patna: Intensifying its attack on Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor, JD (U) on Monday asserted that it would write to the Election Commission (EC) and Economic Offences Unit (EOU), demanding probe into the funding  of former poll strategist Prashant Kishor`s political outfit, Jan Suraaj Party.

Senior JD (U) leader and party MLC Neeraj Kumar said that the party would write to EC,  EOU and other competent authorities for investigation into the funding of Jan Suraaj Party after taking legal advice in this connection. He claimed that Kishor was also unable to reply to questions his party had asked from him as the former poll strategist  could give only one reply, providing details of his political party`s bank account.

“More than a dozen companies which have paid up capital of Rs 1 lakh are donating funds worth Rs one crore to Kishor through charity organisation Joy of Giving Foundation. Directors of the charity organisation are changed every two year. A thorough investigation is needed to unravel the truth,” he alleged after his  72-hour ultimatum to the former poll strategist ended.

Kumar, who is also the JD (U) chief spokesperson, claimed that companies donating to Kishor`s party were mainly based in Telangana, raising further questions over the funding. He also contended that the possibility of black money being turned into white through these companies could also not be ruled out. He claimed that he would make  other startling revelations about Kishor`s party in coming days. “Use of a charity organisation for political purposes is wrong both legally and morally,” he added.

“Jan Suraaj Party has not even declared the name of its national president. In the Election Commission’s documents, Kishor`s name has not been recorded. In such a situation, there is confusion over Jan Suraaj Party`s actual leadership and controlling authority.”
