Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has quashed down the reports about him being advised bes rest due to back injury suffered during the final match of the Border Gavaskar series. According to the Times of India report on Wednesday, Bumrah has been advised bed rest amid no clarity on his diagnosis. However, the pacer clarified on X (formerly Twitter) stating, “I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh . Sources unreliable”
According to the report Bumrah, will likely report to BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. A source speaking to the publication said, “Bumrah could go to the CoE next week but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, future course of action will be ascertained,”.
The report further stated that Bumrah is unlikely to be rushed back, and with there being no clarity on how the diagnosis will be approached. The source added,”Bed rest doesn’t sound good. I hope it’s not a disc bulge or a muscle swelling which is of a higher grade. The approach has to be similar with him – wrap him in cotton wool and preserve the talent like him,”
Will Bumrah recover in time for Champions Trophy?
Earlier reports have indicated that Bumrah will likely miss the group stage matches of the Champions Trophy. However the latest report has now put further questions over this participation. The pacer remains an important part of them India’s bowling engine room.
With selectors still having time before they name the provisional squad and teams being allowed to make changes to the list until February 13, the report added that the Ajit Agarkar-led committee are waiting for the final medical report on Bumrah before taking the call.
