After India’s disappointing show on the field, Jasprit Bumrah was involved in a light-hearted banter with a journalist who questioned his batting ability during a press conference after the end of Day 3.
The banter began when a journalist asked Bumrah for his thoughts on India’s batting performance in the first innings of the third Test while admitting that he may not be the ideal person to comment.
The pacer cheekily replied “It’s an interesting question. But, you are questioning my batting ability. You should use Google and see who has got the most number of runs in a Test over. But, jokes apart. That’s another story.”
The India vice-captain was referring to his famous 34-run over against Stuart Broad in Birmingham in 2022, where he smashed the veteran England pacer for three boundaries and as many sixes during a Test match.
India in trouble against Australia at Gabba
India’s top order struggled against Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins to end rain-affected day 3 in Brisbane at 51 for 4, trailing Australia’s first-innings total of 445. Jaiswal, Gill, Kohli and Pant all departed with out adding much to the score board.
Earlier Jasprit Bumrah completed six-wicket haul in the first innings of the Brisbane Test. Bumrah chipped with wickets at regular intervals despite a mammoth 241-run partnership between Travis Head and Steve Smith. Both Australian batters scored centuries which helped Australia powst a commanding total on board.
Following yet another impressive performance, Bumrah is currently leading the wicket charts in Border Gavaskar Trophy with 18 wickets in just five innings. On Monday, he also became only the second Indian bowler, after the legendary Kapil Dev, to take 50 Test wickets in Australia.
