Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s performance in the five-match Test series against Australia was excellent. He continuously troubled the Australian batsmen with his lethal bowling and took the maximum of 32 wickets in the series. However, due to back spasms in the fifth Test, he could bowl only 8 overs and was unable to bowl in Australia’s second innings.

Bumrah bowled more than 150 overs during the series, which placed a heavy workload on him. Now he will stay away from cricket for some time due to injury.

Akashdeep also injured, out of Vijay Hazare Trophy

Indian fast bowler Akashdeep is also struggling with injury problems. He could not play in the fifth Test against Australia due to back stiffness. Bengal team member Akashdeep has also been ruled out of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
After returning home, he will be sent to the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, where his injury will be treated.

Bumrah’s injury and BCCI’s priority

The concern of the Indian team has increased due to the injury of Jasprit Bumrah. The BCCI medical team is working on his fitness so that he can be completely fit for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.

  • India will begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20.
  • India’s performance will largely depend on the presence of Bumrah.

Bumrah may be out of England series?

It was already decided that Jasprit Bumrah would not play in the T20 series against England this year, because there is no World Cup in this format.
However, he could play at least two out of three matches in the ODI series. Now the severity of his injury will decide whether he will be able to take part in the 50-over format against England or not.

Upcoming series and schedule

  • The five-match T20 series between India and England will start from January 22.
  • After this a three-match ODI series will be played.
  • The last match of the Test series will be played on 12 February in Ahmedabad.
