Twelve people were detained for not standing during the national anthem played in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Not only this, departmental action has also been initiated against the police music band for failing to ensure that everyone stands before the national anthem is played.

This program was org.zed in Srinagar on 25 June. On June 25, during the closing ceremony of the Pedal for Peace cycling event org.zed by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the accused did not stand up as a mark of respect when the national anthem was played. The Jammu and Kashmir administration has taken major action on this movement.

Police sources said that 14 people were arrested and some policemen were suspended for disrespecting the national anthem. Later, the Srinagar Police said in a tweet that only 12 people have been detained under criminal sections.

 

According to the police, 12 people have been taken hostage under sections 107 and 151 of the CrPC. These sections give the police the power to arrest or detain a person suspected of an offense or to ask him to sign a bond.
