Heavy rain in Ramban district

Three people, including two children, died in the floods due to heavy rains, hailstorm and cloudburst in Ramban district of Jammu division this morning. Due to this natural disaster, debris was filled in houses in Seri Bagan area of ​​the district. More than 200 people were evacuated to safe places. Along with this, the Jammu and Kashmir administration said in the order issued on Sunday that in view of heavy rains and bad weather, all schools of the valley will be suspended on Monday 21 April. Giving information on the social media platform ‘X’, Education Minister Sakina Etto said, “It has been decided to suspend class work in all schools of the valley for one day on April 21 as a precaution in view of the constantly deteriorating weather and meteorological warnings.” He said that this step has been taken giving priority to the safety of students and teachers.

National highway closed, telecom services disrupted

Strategically important, landslides and debris fell from the mountain at a dozen places between Nasari and Banihal on the strategic point of view. Due to which traffic has stopped from both sides. Due to this, hundreds of passengers, trucks and buses are stuck on the road. Rivers and drains are in spate throughout the region. 40 houses in Dharmakund village were badly damaged. Telecom services have been disrupted due to damage to mobile towers. Teams of Army, Police, QRT, NDRF and SDRF have been engaged in rescue work since morning to deal with the situation arising due to floods. Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah have expressed grief over the death of three people and directed to provide immediate relief to the affected people. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Surendra Chaudhary and District Deputy Commissioner of Ramban visited the area and took stock of the situation. Let us tell you that in the last two days, five people have died due to heavy rains in Jammu division. The Meteorological Department issued a warning. Heavy debris and rocks came with water from the mountains engulfed many shops, hotels and houses. Two children, Aqib Ahmed and Mohammad Saqib, brothers and residents of Seri Bagna, were killed in the debris. The devastation caused by cloudburst in Seri Bagna was so widespread that a two -storey mountain of debris became a mountain outside the hotel near Shan Palace. Vehicles parked outside were buried under the rubble.

Danger in Kashmir too

According to the police control room, about 50 houses have been damaged in Seri, Banana Mor and Dharkund in Ramban district. There was a landslide in Kishtwar as well. Meanwhile, landslides and landslides have been occurring on the mountains for four consecutive days in the stone Nakki village of Nag Seni area of ​​Kishtwar district. Due to landslides, 200 meters of the Kishtwar-Paad road connecting Machail Mata Temple has been completely damaged. Similarly, due to continuous rains in Kashmir, water sources are in spate in many places and people have been advised to stay away from rivers and drains.

Cloud bursting is a technical term. According to the Meteorological Department, if there is more than 100 mm of rain in an hour at some place, it is called cloud bursting. In this situation, several lakh liters of water falls on the Earth in a limited area. Because of this, flood water is flowing rapidly in that area.
