The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken a big decision after the Pahalgam attack. He has directed to cancel all visas related to Pakistan. Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken to the Chief Ministers of all the states. All the Chief Ministers have been asked to remove Pakistanis from their states as soon as possible. Union Home Minister Amit Shah asked the Chief Ministers to send the list of Pakistani citizens to the central government. So that their visa can be canceled immediately and sent out of India.

 

Big action against Pakistanis in India

Home Minister Amit Shah has issued an order to the Chief Ministers of all the states. He has said that he has been instructed to identify Pakistani citizens living in their respective states. According to officials, this step has been taken in view of the increasing tension between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

The government took many strict decisions.

On 22 April 2025, 25 Indian tourists and a Nepali citizens were killed in a terrorist attack in Basaron in Pahalgam. The attack is considered one of the most deadly attacks in the Kashmir Valley after the 2019 Pulwama attack. India has blamed Pakistan sponsored terrorism for this attack and has taken many strict steps in response. These include suspending the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, closing the Attari-Wagah border, removing Pakistani military officials from New Delhi and canceling visas of all Pakistani citizens.

Visa cancellation process

According to sources in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Amit Shah asked the Chief Ministers to prepare a list of all Pakistani citizens living in their states and send it to the Central Government. The government has already announced that all existing visas of Pakistani citizens will be canceled from April 27, 2025, although medical visas will be valid till April 29, 2025. In addition, Indian citizens have been advised to return from Pakistan as soon as possible. Amit Shah appealed to the Chief Ministers to give supreme priority to this task and maintain law and order in their respective states. He also said that there should be no delay in the process of identifying Pakistani citizens and canceling their visas. According to sources, the central government is working closely with the states on this matter so that this process can be completed smoothly.

Diplomatic tension with Pakistan

After the Pahalgam attack, India has further reduced diplomatic relations with Pakistan. India expelled military advisors from the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi and decided to reduce the number of employees from 55 to 30 in its High Commission in Islamabad. In response, Pakistan shut down its airspace for Indian aircraft and banned all business activities with India. Pakistan has called India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty as “war action”.
