Kolkata: The impasse at Jadavpur University continued even on Monday as students started protesting after Professor Om Prakash Mishra entered the campus along with police in plain clothes.

Talking to the media, Mishra said that he doesn’t have the ‘power’ to call police and he had visited the campus as per his ‘pre-scheduled’ work and had informed the administration.

As a result of the protest, the meeting called at 11.30am by acting vice chancellor Bhaskar Gupta with the protesting students could not be held as the student again started protesting against Mishra, professor of International Relations.

Mishra, against whom a FIR is lodged at Jadavpur police station over the ruckus on March 1, reached the varsity campus by 12 noon, and the students with posters against Mishra stood at the gate to stop Mishra from entering the campus.

“Please let me in. I should be allowed to enter my office,” requested Mishra to the students before entering his office.

Notably, Mishra was later escorted to his office by police in plainclothes and their identity cards could be seen.

Students from other departments also complained that their classes have been cancelled as all the Professors got busy due to sudden protests that erupted to stop Mishra from entering his office.
