Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The city’s first green corridor was created on Thursday to facilitate organ transportation from MP’s Jabalpur to Indore and Bhopal. The corridor was set up to send a heart and a liver from a 61-year-old Sagar resident, Baliram Kushwaha, who lost his life in a road accident.
To ensure the smooth functioning of this critical mission, over 150 police personnel and multiple security guards were deployed across the green corridor. Two separate corridors were created simultaneously—one from Super Speciality Medical Hospital to Dumna Airport and the other to Tilwara.
According to information, after the accident that took Kushwaha’s life, his family decided to donate his heart and liver. Jabalpur’s Super Speciality Hospital discovered that two patients, one in Indore and the other in Bhopal, are in need of the organs. With the permission of all the family members and the doctor’s go-ahead, the organs were safely removed from the body and were packed to be transported.
The heart was sent to Bhopal, while the liver was transported to Indore. The heart was carried to Bhopal by a helicopter, and the liver was delivered to Indore by an aircraft. To transport the organs safely and promptly to the airport and the helipad, two separate green corridors were created.
