Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A woman on Monday, approached Jabalpur’s district collector, alleging her husband abandoned her and her child 15 days ago, after he married another woman.
She added, she went to the police a week ago, but received no response. Hence, she directly approached the District Collector for help a week later.
Police has taken cognizance of the case and have lodged an investigation into the same.
According to information, the victim was identified as Khushboo Choubey. She said that she married Nitin Choubey on April 24, 2019, as per Hindu rituals.
Initially, everything seemed normal but soon her husband and in-laws started demanding money and a car for dowry. Despite her widowed mother fulfilling their demands, Khushboo faced constant mental and physical harassment.
On December 14, 2024, Khushboo discovered that Nitin had secretly married another woman, Neha Mishra. Following this, she and her daughter were thrown out of the house.
Few days later, Khushboo reported the incident at the Chargawan police station. When the police failed to take appropriate action, Khushboo dirctly approached the District Collector. Police has taken cognizance of the case and have lodged a complaint against the victim’s husband. Further investigation is underway.
