Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Pollution Control Board Team, along with the Municipal Corporation and police, raided a banned polythene factory in Jabalpur on Thursday. The team recovered 5000 kg of non-standard polythene worth ₹25 lakhs.
The raid was conducted after they got the information regarding the manufacturing of non-standard polythene in Amardas Polymers. Acting swiftly, the team raided the premises and seized the polythene.
Jabalpur Municipal Corporation Health Department Official Sandeep Jaiswal told Free Press that the department was currently working towards making Jabalpur polythene-free.
According to information, the Municipal Corporation Health Department got information that Amardas Polymers, was manufacturing non-standard polythene. As soon as the department got notified about the same, the Municipal Corporation Health Department, along with Pollution Control Board Team and police reached Amardas Polymers factory and raided.
Making Jabalpur polythene-free
The team there found nearly 5000 kg of non-standard polythene, worth ₹25 lakhs. The team then called the tractors and sent the seized polythene bags to the Kathonda plant, where they would be disposed of completely. It is suspected that these polythene materials have been transported from Gujarat, as some polythene have tags attached to them.
The strict step was taken since the government is trying to make Jabalpur polythene-free. Polythene has been completely banned in districts such as Gwarighat and Tilwara Ghat, and the initiative will soon be spread to the entire Jabalpur.
The police then registered a case at the Madhotal police station, and further investigations are underway.
Notably, Amardas Polymers, a firm registered under the name of Anil Budhwani.
