Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A man was arrested for posing as an Army officer and duping several youths on pretext of providing them jobs in the armed forces in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, Army Intelligence apprehended the accused. The accused is not currently serving in the Army and was terminated. Police have registered a case under section 318 of the BNS.
According to information, the complainant, identified as Mohit Bakshi, failed the army medical test. To confirm his result, he went to the MH Medical Hospital in the district. Here, right outside the gate, met the accused, identified as Vikas Gupta. Gupta was in an army uniform and stopped Bakshi to talk to him. Here, Gupta told him that he works in the army and can get his medical test cleared for a sum of Rs 30,000. Bakshi, in hopes of getting his test cleared, gave him the money.
Suspecting his intentions, Bakshi simultaneously filed a complaint at the Army Intelligence office and police station. Taking immediate action, a team of army intelligence officers and police went on a hunt to apprehend Gupta. They successfully nabbed Gupta and took him to the police station.
Police Investigation
Upon arresting Gupta, police registered a case under BNS section 318 for fraud. Police have started rigorous questioning, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
