Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued a two-year-old girl from a kidnapper in Jabalpur, police officials saidd on Monday.
The child had gone missing from the Itarsi railway station last week.
According to police, the girl’s mother, a beggar, had been sleeping outside the women’s waiting room on Platform No. 1 at the Itarsi station on the night of March 27. When she woke up around 6 a.m. the next day, she discovered that her daughter was missing. She immediately alerted the GRP.
Following the report, police scanned CCTV footage from the station and issued an alert to GRP units across the state. The breakthrough came when GRP Jabalpur identified a man seen carrying a girl matching the missing child’s description. A joint team from Itarsi and Jabalpur swung into action, raiding the location and successfully rescuing the child.
The accused, identified as Anil Raghuwanshi, a resident of Kothargaon village in Narmadapuram district, was arrested on the spot. Medical examination of the girl confirmed that she was safe and unharmed. Police are now investigating the motive behind the abduction.
