Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A homeopathy doctor was arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur for allegedly brainwashing a minor girl and pressuring her to convert her religion, as reported by police on Friday.

When behavioural changes were noticed, minor’s parents reported the matter to police, after which a case was registered against the accused under the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.

According to information, the incident took place in the Crusher Basti area of Tilwara police station in Jabalpur. The accused, identified as Dr. Khalid Khan, had been treating the minor girl for a long time as she was suffering from a serious illness.

During this period, he allegedly gained her trust and started influencing her to adopt Islam. The doctor reportedly offered her various incentives and even performed faith healing, claiming miraculous recovery.

Minor’s family grew suspicious

The girl’s family grew suspicious after noticing changes in her behavior. They informed Hindu organizations, who investigated the matter and lodged a complaint at the Tilwara police station.

A large number of Hindu activists gathered outside the police station, demanding the doctor’s arrest. They also alleged that Dr. Khalid Khan had been converting innocent people in the area and called for a thorough investigation.

Acting on the matter, police detained the doctor from his clinic and began questioning him.

Accused under interrogation

Additional Superintendent of Police Suryakant Sharma stated, “Dr. Khalid Khan has been arrested by Tilwara police. He is accused of luring a minor into religious conversion. Considering the seriousness of the case, all aspects are being investigated.”

Following the preliminary inquiry, a formal FIR has been filed against the doctor under the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act. Statements from local residents are also being recorded as part of the investigation.

Currently, the police are interrogating the accused to determine if more people were involved or if there are other similar cases.
