The extreme step was taken in order to protest the death of two children due to alleged negligence by the electricity department in the city.

The disturbing visuals surface:
In the video, it can be seen that Mehra poured petrol on himself as a mark of protest. He had earlier raised his voice against the electricity department’s failures.
Councillor faced power cut at house
However, in response, the department allegedly disconnected the electricity supply to his house.
The councillor claims that he was deliberately targeted, which led to outrage among his supporters. A huge protest erupted outside the electricity office, with people chanting slogans against the officials.
Shockingly, no senior officials from the electricity department were present at the office when the protest took place.
Mehra, along with his supporters, demanded strict action against those responsible for the tragic deaths of two children and the power cut. The situation remains tense as protests continue.
