Itching palm
The officers in a parliamentary constituency of a first-time MP natter about his itching palm. The MP demands his share of sweetener from the police officers and those who are holding important posts in the constituency. A few officers gave a backhander to the politician, but some of them refused to do it. The MP mounts pressure on such officers as deny greasing his palm, saying he will send them to the loop line, but he does not seem to be in a position to transfer anyone. It is true that he can complain to the higher-ups against them. A few officers have already informed the top bosses in the district administration about the MP’s demand. Plans are also afoot to send a complaint to a senior leader of the BJP about the MP. Before becoming an MP, the politician used to demand backhanders from police and administrative officers, but nobody expected him to do so after going to Parliament.
Thorny path
The head of the state had to mediate between a union minister and some BJP leaders to end infighting. After the results of the assembly by-elections, the union minister issued a statement which evoked sharp reaction from the BJP leaders. The party organisation had asked one of its leaders to issue a statement countering the union minister, but several politicians from a particular region began to speak against the central minister afterwards. There are reports that the central minister complained to a national leader of the party. As a result, the head of the state had to go to the residence of the central minister to pacify him. The party’s state unit president had to tell the BJP leaders not to make any statement against the union minister, who during his interaction with the head of the state expressed his anger against many leaders. He also expressed his unhappiness because some of his work was not done. The central minister may have been given assurances about the fulfillment of his demands, but a proper coordination between his supporters and the old hands in the BJP is only just easy.
Aggressive stand
Many people are searching for the reasons behind a Congress leader suddenly becoming aggressive towards the government. On a previous occasion, after being critical of the government for a while, he went into silence, but now, he has again adopted an aggressive posture towards the ruling dispensation. The leaders of the Congress as well as of the BJP are exploring the causes. He wanted posting of some officers of his choice in the area he comes from and sent messages to a few important people in the government accordingly, but he got angry after the ruling dispensation set aside his request. This leader has opened a front against the government. He regularly issues statements that cause embarrassment to the government. Efforts have been made to pacify this leader, but he is not ready to listen to any advice. About this leader it is said that he can be easily handled, so the government expects he will soon calm down.

The legislator made arrangements for the event according to the time given by the minister, but the day, when the minister had to attend the function, the oath-taking ceremony in Maharashtra was also scheduled. Because the minister played an important role in electioneering for the party candidates in Maharashtra, he was especially invited to the ceremony. So, after receiving an invitation for the oath-taking ceremony, the minister was in a dilemma, because reaching Maharashtra after attending the event was not an easy task. The minister then decided to attend the event organised by the legislator instead of participating in the oath-taking ceremony. Cancelling his journey to Maharashtra, the minister reached the MLA’s constituency and was there for a long time. The legislator has become an admirer of the minister after this event. The minister prefers participating in the events organised by partymen to attending the big functions.
Harassed cops
The demand of the supporters of a female minister has caused harassment to the policemen in her constituency. Her supporters browbeat the policemen in the area into giving them payola. A few police officers informed their bosses as well as the ruling party leaders, but it has failed to make any impact. There are also reports that the office of the minister interferes in the day-to-day functioning of the police department in her constituency. The minister did not have such an image, so the officers are surprised by the sudden change in her behaviour. Because of the pressure from the minister’s supporters, some police officers are planning to get posting in some other place.

In a Bollywood blockbuster, Brahmachari, Shammi Kapoor takes care of a few orphans and does everything to keep them smiling. Inspired by this film, a former minister is sparing no effort to bring smiles to the lips of some poor children in his locality by giving them a ride in his car every Sunday. He also takes them to a mall in the state capital and buys eatables and gifts for them, for their smiles give him immense satisfaction. Ergo, the children await the minister every Sunday. Many people can see a heart of Brahmachari in the former minister who holds a candle, which though little, throws breams very far, for he knows love and charity walks hand in hand.
