The Israel Tourism Ministry has launched a digital e-Visa system for Indian travelers from January 1, 2025. This new system simplifies the visa process by eliminating the need for paperwork. This reflects Israel’s efforts to facilitate tourism and strengthen ties with India.
Indian citizens can now apply for a visa to Israel completely online using the official government portal. The process is quick and requires very few documents making it convenient for solo travellers.
However, group visa applications will still follow the traditional process. The e-Visa system is integrated with Israel’s Entry Travel Authorization (ETA) platform, ensuring seamless processing and prompt approval. The platform is user-friendly while maintaining high security standards.
India is an important market for Israel’s tourism industry. In 2018, Israel welcomed a record 70,800 Indian tourists. Although the number of tourists declined due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of Indian tourists started improving in 2022 and reached 30,900 tourists. This trend continued in 2023 also and 41800 Indians came to Israel.
The e-Visa system, which is currently available only to Indian citizens, is expected to be extended to travelers from other countries in the future, thereby strengthening Israel’s image as a modern and tourist-friendly destination.
