Israeli attacked Berut, first major action after the ceasefire of November 2024

First attack in Beirut

Israel attacked Berut, the capital of Lebanon on Friday. The attack took place for the first time on Beirut after a ceasefire between Israel and Hizbullah in November 2024. The locals heard the sound of a loud explosion and the smoke was seen to be raised from the area where the attack took place. However, since the November ceasefire, Israel has been targeting Hizbullah’s bases in South Lebanon almost daily.

IDF statement

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) reported that it targeted an unmanned drone storage center located in the Dahiyah area of Beirut. The center was being used by the air unit of Hizbullah. The IDF spokesperson said that Hizbullah has created terrorist structures among civil areas, which is another example of using Lebanese citizens as human shields.

Firing and warning

The IDF spokesperson also said that the morning firing in the upper Galilee region is a violation of the agreement between Israel and Lebanon and a direct threat to Israeli citizens. He said that the Lebanese government should take responsibility to maintain this agreement and Israel will continue to take necessary action for its safety.

Attack in residential area

The attack was carried out in the area where there are residential and commercial structures and two schools are also nearby. However, the IDF had warned the citizens to leave before the attack.

Political response

The Israeli Defense Minister said that if there is no peace in the northern areas of Israel, then there cannot be peace in Beirut. On the other hand, Hizbullah denied attacking northern Israel and accused Israel that he was looking for excuse for attacks on Lebanon.
