The long -standing struggle between Israel and Hamas is now seen reaching its last round. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made it clear what the further strategy of his government will be regarding the Gaza Strip. The special thing is that former US President Donald Trump has proposed to take Gaza under American control, although it has not yet been agreed to.
Netanyahu puts his strategy on Gaza
Netanyahu spoke on his government’s priorities about the Gaza Strip during a joint press conference with US President Trump at the White House. He said that Israel is now in a strong position than before after the ongoing struggle for the last one and a half years. Also, he emphasized the need to establish permanent peace in the region.
They said, “Israel is currently in its strongest position, while Iran -backed terrorist groups are in the weakest phase. We had discussed that we have to take this struggle to a decisive turn to secure our future and bring peace to the region. ”
Netanyahu mentioned three major goals about Gaza:
- To completely destroy Hamas’s military and administrative abilities.
- Ensuring safe release of all Israeli citizens captive in Gaza.
- To ensure that there is no threat to Israel from Gaza in future.
Trump’s proposal: America can take Gaza control
During the joint press conference, Donald Trump made a shocking offer. He said that if Palestinian settled elsewhere except Gaza, the US can control the region and develop it financially. However, he did not give much information about the implementation of the scheme.
If America actually occupies Gaza, it will be a historic change in the US foreign policy related to the Israeli-Pilistine conflict. At the moment, there is no concrete consent on this proposal, but this is expecting a big political and strategic change in the future.
