Tel Aviv: The Security Cabinet has approved the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas amid an atmosphere of uncertainty, distrust and fear. This decision has been taken in the cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This deal is being seen in the Israeli media as a deal to release the hostages.
Israel’s security cabinet has approved this deal. Now the eyes of the whole world are on how and to what extent this deal will be implemented. There had been attempts at compromise earlier too, but they failed. The agreement is expected to pave the way for a Russia-Ukraine ceasefire in the near future. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his Cabinet on Friday that an agreement has been reached with (Hamas) for the release of prisoners held in the Gaza Strip. ,
Earlier, the Prime Minister’s Office had said that the last-minute obstacles to the ceasefire proposal presented by the Prime Minister have been removed.
Hamas said that for now only 33 hostages will be released. The 100 hostages will be released only after Israel completely withdraws from Gaza.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu said he was going to call a meeting of his Security Council this evening (Friday).
Netanyahu further said that Israel is committed to achieving all war goals. All the hostages held in this will be recovered alive or dead on October 7. On the day of 2023, terrorists from Gaza killed about 1200 Israeli citizens and captured about 250 citizens. Since then, a bloody war has been going on between Israel and Hamas. More than 46,000 Palestinians have lost their lives. Many human rights groups have accused Israel of war crimes regarding this war. Which Israel has been continuously denying.
Even in this situation, this statement of the Israeli Prime Minister (on the Gaza war) gives hope that some agreement will be reached. At the same time, thousands of Palestinians who had fled their homes will now be able to return to their homes again. The Gaza Strip will come alive again. Some obstacles arose before reaching this agreement (ceasefire agreement) on Friday. Hamas also gave some reasons (excuses) for this. But now they have been removed. The troops sent by Biden and Trump are believed to have played an important role in the ceasefire talks in Qatar.
Earlier, Israel had also accused Hamas. But now the allegations and counter-allegations seem to have stopped. And if time is sufficient, this ceasefire can be implemented and the hostages can be freed. Such a ray of hope is visible. However, before this Israel has also captured the Philadelphia Corridor of Gaza Strip bordering Egypt. Israel claims that this agreement is enough to free the hostages. The ceasefire does not clarify the issue of control over Gaza.
This deal will be implemented in three phases
Netanyahu has directed that a special task force be formed to repatriate the released hostages. The families of the hostages have been informed about this. With the Cabinet approving the deal, it is expected to begin on Sunday, the day the first hostages will be released. Under this deal, 33 out of 100 hostages will be released within six weeks. In return, Israel would spare the Palestinians. Israeli forces will also retreat in some areas. After this, prisoners including male soldiers will be released in the second phase. After this the talks will begin in a very difficult and bitter phase. Hamas has said it will not release the last of its hostages until Israel completely withdraws from Gaza. In this regard, Israel says that it will maintain its control over the entire area by eliminating Hamas. However, long-term questions remain about who will rule Gaza after the war.
