A good news has come for the people struggling with rising inflation in the country. The government is going to cut the prices of petrol and diesel soon during the festive season. It is expected that on March 15, the government will officially announce the decision, after which the new rates will be implemented from March 16.

How much will the prices of petrol and diesel decrease?

According to the Oil Marketing Association (OMAP), the price of petrol may be reduced by Rs 12 per liter. At the same time, high-speed diesel (HSD) prices are expected to fall by Rs 8 per liter. This deduction is being made due to the fall in crude oil prices in the international market.

Government has given relief before

Earlier, at the beginning of the month, the government had reduced the price of petrol by Rs 0.50 per liter. After this cut, the new price of petrol was Rs 255.63 per liter. At the same time, the price of diesel was reduced by Rs 5.31 per liter, due to which its new rate was increased to Rs 258.64 per liter.

Apart from this, the price of kerosene oil was also cut by Rs 3.53 per liter, which reduced its price to Rs 168.12 per liter.

Possible list of new rates

Petroleum products New price (₹ per liter)
petrol 255.63
High-speed Diesel (HSD) 258.64
Kerosene oil 168.12
Light diesel oil 153.34

Public will get great relief

With the introduction of new prices, transport, freight and everyday expenses will be reduced, which will provide financial relief to the general public. Now everyone’s eyes are on the government announcement of March 15, which will make it clear how much relief will be given in the prices of petrol and diesel.
